The “Global x Local
Leading-Edge AI Research and Development for Solving Problems in the Medical Field” with Tohoku University as the lead institution and Hokkaido University and Okayama University as partner institutions, has been adopted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) as a “Industry-Academia Collaboration Project for Human Resource Development to Accelerate AI Research and Development in the Healthcare Field”.
This MEXT project solicited with the aim of aiding efforts to form institutions for training medical personnel to promote research and development of artificial intelligence (AI) in the healthcare field using the needs and knowledge of the medical field, mainly at universities with faculties of medicine in cooperation with private companies and organizations. Twelve projects applied for the program. Among thoese 12 projects, 2 projects were selected, one of them being the “Global x Local
Leading-Edge AI Research and Development for Solving Problems in the Medical Field”.
